Over
1 Billion Dollars in Bonds...Hundreds of
Millions in Positive Economic
and Community Impact
The Loudoun County Industrial Development Authority operates as
an independent political entity chartered by Virginia State Law
to advance the economic interests of the community, and state, by
offering reduced interest bonds to qualified borrowers.
The authority is composed of seven volunteer citizen board members
who are appointed by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.
The Loudoun County IDA was created in 1975 and issued it's first
bond in 1977. Since that time the authority has issued nearly eighty
bond or refinance issues totaling over 1 billion dollars.
The cascading impact of these bonds has generated thousands of jobs
and ten's of millions in new tax revenue on real estate alone.
IDAs and Quality of Life
IDAs are not just about money. In fact, as
the IRS has adjusted the role of IDAs over the years, they have
become a powerful tool in behalf of critical community services
like health care, fire and rescue, education and not-for-profit
institutions.
A Proactive Partner
Loudoun County IDA has contributed hundreds of thousands
of dollars to worthy and business related community programs and
causes.
More recently the IDA has focused it's attention
on IDA potential to help solve pressing housing issues and partnering
with the County to fund staff tasked to investigate and develop
innovative solutions. See the initiatives link to the right.
About Loudoun County
In 2004 Loudoun County, Virginia, was ranked as the fasted growing
county in the United States. This growth is fueled by a powerful
and diverse economic platform with anchor "tenants" including
biotech (Hughes Medical Institute), telecom (MCI - World Headquarters),
Web/internet (AOL World Headquarters), education (George Washington
University), transportation (Dulles International Airport).
With Washington, DC less than 30 minutes away, Loudoun County is
also woven into the infrastructure supporting the business of Government
...particularly in the communications, defense and association space.
Residents are attracted to the county because of it's mix of delightful
rural Virginia charm, big city shopping, renowned schools, highly
competitive travel convenience and proximity to mountains, rivers
and historic sites...not to mention "the capital of the free
world."
